Custom made shelves made of Baltic Birch showcase a soulful mix of books, framed art, sculpture, lamps, and boxes.
Inspired by the owner's collection of vintage mid-century furniture, the shelves are designed with open sides and staggered dividers.
The home was built in the 1920s in Houston's colorful Montrose neighborhood. It was very common for homes of this era to have built in shelves on both sides of the fireplace. The design intends to echo this motif with a contemporary feel.
The modern design is made with glued tongue and groove joints. The finish is a clear hand-rubbed urethane with a wax buff for a buttery touch.
